For your safety, Galt Ocean Rehab has strict guidelines on the approved and non-approved items that can be brought into the treatment facility and community housing with you. These are well established industry standards and these guidelines are in place for everyone’s safety and to ensure that you will be successful in your treatment and recovery. If you have any questions about specific details please call us before arriving.

Personal Phones and Computers?

Clients are provided with the opportunity to call loved ones three times per week at community housing, following a three-day “blackout” period. We highly encourage communication, but we also encourage continued focus on treatment and self-care, which can be interrupted, if too much time is spent worrying about others and outside issues. Exceptions to this rule involve cases in which a client needs to call loved ones daily, and they can do so with their therapists. We encourage all families to engage in family sessions via phone or in-person, if able to do so, at least one time per week. Clients are encouraged to contact their sponsors, daily, if desired.

Clients who have children are provided with the ability to FaceTime their children at clinical offices or at community housing, as we understand how important it is for children to have continued contact with their parents. This fosters feelings of safety for children and a sense of well-being for parents.

When clients step down to the IOP level of care, they have more access to their personal mobile phones. However, clients who need to use their mobile phones, while in the first phase of treatment in PHP, can use their mobile phones in the presence of their therapist when time is allotted and approved.

Clients have monitored access to a client computer at the clinical offices when deemed ready to start job search or in other important situations. Clients are discouraged from engaging in social media, as this only deflects from self-focus and healing.

Self-Care?

We understand how import it is to live clean to be clean, and we help with visits to the barber shop for men and nail salon for women biweekly. We highly encourage our clients to participate in healthy and good Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), as clients are responsible for keeping their apartments and living spaces clean. We encourage our clients to make their beds and participate in healthy bathing routines. We have a cleaning person who helps with light cleaning, but we encourage all clients to clean their rooms, as this helps with routine, structure, life skills, and respect of others. We have washers and dryers on-site in apartment living. Laundry soap is provided. Clean clothes, made beds, and clean sheets can impact how we feel more than we think. Please note that we want our clients to partake in life skills and healthy cleaning, but we also want to help with cleaning, as we are part of a team effort.

Client Apartments?

Clients live in a fully renovated, upscale community housing living facility where there is 24-hour supervision by Behavioral Health Technicians and surveillance. Clients live in apartments that can accommodate up to 3 people, but oftentimes 1 or 2 people occupy the living space. Men are housed on the first floor, and women are housed on the second floor. Clients are surrounded by lush landscaping and the ocean and beach across the street. There are tables, plenty of chairs, lounge chairs by the pool, and an outside BBQ for community eating. Clients go grocery shopping on Sundays and learn to budget their money with food items purchased. We encourage clients to utilize the nutritionist to help with food budgeting and meal planning, as this is also a good recovery and life skill tool. Clients cook on their own stove tops and in microwaves and counter-top ovens, in addition to the grill. Clients have access to their own pots and pans, but we find that most clients prefer to use paper plates, cups, and utensils to cut down on dish washing. If an individual prefers ceramic plates and cups and steel utensils, we make accommodations. We do our best and finest to accommodate our clients’ needs. Clients receive all the necessary items for healthy living, such as towels, shower caddies, etc..If you prefer to use a particular type of shampoo and conditioner, we encourage our clients to bring their own. Any hygiene products containing alcohol (i.e. in the first 3 ingredients) will be placed in our company safe; this is to ensure the safety of all of our clients. It is important that you bring comfortable clothes, as well as, 1 pair of gym shoes and 1 pair of sandals that will fit properly…and don’t forget the bathing suit! Please note the importance of bringing proper attire for warm weather, but also bring a sweater or sweatshirt, if the clinical offices are too cold or it’s cool in the evening on a beach walk. Appropriate clothing and undergarments are to be worn at all times, as we encourage our clients to start practicing appropriate ways of thinking and behaving, as well as how clients wish to present themselves as recovering people. Please limit luggage to one suitcase, due to limited storage in client housing.

Nicotine Products and Smoking Cessation?

We are aware that many clients will not come to treatment, if it means that they have to give up smoking, which is a strong block to receiving treatment services. We understand this need, and we allow clients to purchase cigarettes, tobacco chew, and/or vapes and vape liquids. We also encourage clients to participate in smoking cessation when ready, and we encourage clients to meet with the medical team to discuss medical options to help with smoking cessation.

Personal Funds?

Please know that some of our clients wish to purchase items that they did not think of bringing upon admission. We recommend friends or family members send money (to help with the purchasing of extra personal items) using the “Patients Funds Account” link (in RED) at the top of this page.  We receive electronic notification that funds have been sent and will credit those funds to the specified clients account.   We strongly discourage and do not allow Western Union or Money Grams, as we consider this akin to unhealthy behavior and “old” ways of behaving. We store personal property, such as IDs, debit cards, cash, Visa cards, and/or anything of reasonable value in the safe. Once an individual transfers to our second phase of treatment, s/he has access to and is responsible for his/her belongings, but valuable items can still be stored in the safe, if needed.
