Treatment

Clients meet personally with the on-site psychiatrist.

Our on-site psychiatrist is the Medical Director and holds an MD degree. The psychiatrist visits three times a week to meet with clients, and clients are seen as needed at a minimum of 1 time per week. Clients are included in the process of the full psychiatric evaluation and discussion of psychotropic medications prescribed. Clients often arrive to treatment with chemical imbalances related to substance misuse, or they have underlying mental health issues that require continued treatment. Clients who do not have underling mental health issues may only need to be treated with psychotropic medication, until post-acute withdrawal symptoms subside and chemical balance is restored. Other clients do not require psychotropic medications, but many clients may need medications for insomnia to help with sleep, temporarily.

Clients also receive a full medical evaluation by our on-site ARNP, as our clients’ medical conditions must be addressed, if they are to be able to focus on their full recoveries. Oftentimes, clients admit to treatment in poor physical health, and clients are assessed as to whether they can be treated with medications at the clinical offices or need to be referred to private physicians to address medical issues, such as:
R
orthopedic
R
gynecology/urology (i.e. for women’s issues and/or sexually transmitted infections)
R
hormone replacement
R
gastroenterology (i.e. for Hepatitis C treatment and liver issues)
R
podiatry
R
dental issues
R
cardiology
R
optometry
Clients are helped with setting up appointments, and those who are approved are transported to private physicians for outside appointments. Please note that it is often a myth that clients with a Hepatitis C diagnosis cannot be treated for said diagnosis, until they “earn” 6 months of sobriety. This is often not the case, and we encourage all clients to begin to address their Hepatitis C diagnoses through our referral sources, in order to assess need for treatment.

Clients are helped with anti-craving medication

such as Naltrexone (i.e. oral medication) and Vivitrol injections, and we encourage our clients with alcohol and opioid use disorders to partake in an evaluation with the medical director, in order to deem appropriateness for anti-craving medication, as we believe that anti-craving medication in conjunction with therapy has more successful outcomes with prolonged sobriety.
