Meet The Clinical Team

Dr. Jutta Hofmann Powell, Ph.D., LCSW-QS

Program Director

If you’re struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, or addiction, you’re not alone. These experiences can feel overwhelming and isolating—for you and for those who care about you. I believe that even life’s most difficult moments can become part of a path toward healing, meaning, and a more fulfilling life.

At the heart of my work is one simple idea: healing happens through connection. When we feel supported, understood, and not alone, real and lasting change becomes possible.

My path to this work has been both academic and deeply personal. While studying at Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, I faced a significant personal challenge that deepened my understanding of healing and the importance of support. I later earned my Bachelor of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University and went on to complete both my Master’s and Ph.D. in Social Work at Barry University.

Before becoming a licensed clinical social worker, I spent over 30 years working with children and families as an educator, advocate, and early learning center director—experience that continues to shape my work with patience, compassion, and respect for each person’s story.

Influenced by Dr. Bruce Alexander’s view that the opposite of addiction is connection, my approach focuses on rebuilding that connection—with yourself and with others. Group therapy plays an important role, offering a space to feel seen, heard, and supported while developing new ways to relate and cope.

As Program Director at Galt Ocean, I help create a safe, welcoming environment for healing. Our program offers daily group therapy, weekly individual and family sessions, and a compassionate team dedicated to your well-being—all in a peaceful setting steps from the ocean.

If you’re ready to take the next step—or simply curious about what support might look like—I invite you to reach out. We can begin at your pace.
